Happy Monday, everyone! I hope everyone had a great weekend, even if it seemed like a rain plus cold snap hit all over. This morning was met with my body demanding I stay in bed, even with Miss A poking me in the face screaming, ‘eat, mama!’ I couldn’t think of anything better than staying in my cozy bed on this rainy day, and reading Bad Things by R.K. Lilley.
Yes, I know I am SO late in the game, but I was waiting on Lovely Trigger to come out… and then it was UNCAGED release time… but—better late than never, right? And for the record, I am beyond in love with this book.
I’m going to do my best at keeping this post on track, but let’s be honest—y’all know I have ADD like crazy and more than likely I’m going to go off the rails soon.
This weekend I had the Sweet as a Peach signing in Cumming/Alpharetta, Georgia. I’m a local girl, but I also hate being away from the thick of things so I drove my hour drive up and spent the weekend and boy am I glad I did. The whole area of Alpharetta and Cumming is just beautiful and with the weather being slightly chilly, but 100% perfect, all paired to make the best setting for one stunningly beautiful weekend.
Friday night we spent the night, and I mean the whole night, at the Castleberry Ale House in Cumming—if you go DEMAND that Joe is your waiter! We had a huge, loud, and hilarious group of authors, readers, and bloggers. Oh, and let’s not forget the husbands that came out. Sadly, mine had to work L but let me tell you—these men are such good sports. They don’t even blink when something off the wall is brought up, and can rock Mini Coopers like nobodies business. And Kim Jones, I love you—but I might love your Donkey just as much after this weekend! The night was full of, book talk, penis talk, sex talk, a motor boating waiter, good music, and laughter like you wouldn’t believe. And Dawn Robertson, girlfriend, that birthday shot for my non-birthday was so disgusting. I’m so getting your ass back soon! 😉
***ALSO, big shout out to blogger Mandy Smith with Raw Books. HAPPY BIRTHDAY again, lover! Tailgating was never as kick ass as it was with you! Hyatt Tailgate 2014!***
I had a blast. I’m not even sure how late we were there.
Also, thank you to Mr. Felicia Lynn for making sure that we arrived back at the hotel alive in his gray/black car! LOL!
But every second was brilliant.
Saturday was all about the signing. Heather Gunter did amazing with this. The venue was stunning, the space was HUGE, and the AC worked. Laugh all you want, but there is nothing worse than feeling like a stuffed sausage in too tight pants. LOL! All of the proceeds went to the Bert’s Big Adventure, and as a local girl who has listened to The Bert Show for 10 plus years—this charity means the world.
We enjoyed lunch with the VIP, listened to some great music provided by Kim Jones’ table—no kidding, that is the table you want to be next to… I ADORE that woman—and more laughs. I cheated and was doing some quick work on my Axel re-edits while we waited for the doors to open.
I’m so proud of my home state. Not only did y’all come out, but you came in large numbers and made this event so much fun. I think each and every reader that stopped at my table had me smiling one of those cheesy smiles that make you look borderline crazy. LOL! I HAD A BLAST!
Once again, those dang sperm went quick. I saw Dawn’s panties, fan girled myself over the authors attending, got tongue-tied when Colin Wayne came and asked me why Steffen Hughes (my Axel) wasn’t here, and connected with some kickass people.
OH! And met a real life Cohen. I kid you not, Cohen is real—and he was at my table this weekend! Stefanie Lewis—I’m calling you out—wasn’t that your adorable little boy?! I might need to borrow him for future signings! Ladies and gents, he stole the show. The second he started dancing in the middle of the room, I knew I found Cohen! And I’m totally kicking myself for not getting a picture with his cute little man self!
Saturday night a big group of us went over to Wild Wings Café for some drinking and music enjoyment.
AC/DC cover band? SIGN ME UP!
I don’t even think I have enough words to explain how much fun this night was. And let me tell you, drunk men that seduce the air in front of them when they dance are hilarious. I think my phone is full of videos of all the great people watching. Creepy? Maybe… but when I need a laugh, all I have to do is watch one of those. AND for the record… you know it’s a party when Dawn Robertson’s bra comes off!
Some random man told us his life story, a local birthday girl who had the best ass ever, a velvet wearing guitarist that can play like a music lovers wet dream, almost got puked on, and walked into the largest doorman ever.
Let me tell you. When you’re too busy watching to cop to make sure none of your friends get arrested and walk into a 6’9, built-like-a-fucking-house, arms crossed over his beefy chest and scowl in place, man… you might piss yourself. Or come close to it. Until his stoic face cracks a smile and he says ‘Yo’ in a rumble that is so deep you feel it in your bones. There’s a good chance that he could have snapped my lush body in half, then used my bones as a toothpick. But, me being me, closed my gaping mouth and said, ‘You are a huge man, sir!’ At least said giant and said cop found me hilarious, otherwise I might have been in trouble.
So… there you have it. An amazing weekend with some beautiful minds. Thank you again to Heather Gunter for all of her hard work. <3
To all of the readers that came out, thank you for making this event such a success. I know Heather got a good donation for Bert’s Big Adventure. To the authors that made the event so wonderful, you rock. And to all the people who I’m blessed to call friends, I love you!
Until next time.
